Fly sneakers and dress to impress for a good cause is what the Annual Nike Sneaker Ball is all about. This year was no different. The event was held at Castaway in Northwest Portland. And the theme was “The Power of One” with a color scheme of Black and White.
I didn’t see the official flyer for the sneaker ball and I had no idea guests were asked to wear black and white. I had a dress picked out a few weeks before. I took photos as the black carpet at guests entered the venue. It wasn’t until I took about 10 photos that it dawned on me that everyone was wearing black and white. :-(. I show up in a red dress! But I wasn’t the only one in a red dress, I don’t feel so bad. 🙂
During the event, there is a 6th Man of the Year award and this year it was given to Chabre Vickers who is Vice President of Brand Experience at Big Brother Big Sister. Every year, the BEN (Black Employees Network) honors their person of the year. This year’s honoree is Les Green. He was presented with a tribute video with interviews from close family, friends and co-workers. Later on a Sneaker Ball King and Queen was crowned via applause from the audience.
Next it was back to the dance floor where 9th Wonder and DJ Cuzzin B were on the 1’s and 2’s. I tried to get a little two step in while taking photos. 🙂 But I was roaming between the black carpet and the actual event.
This year’s event was a huge success and this year it was held on a Thursday night. I missed the season finale of How to Get Away With Murder, it’s cool though. I had fun.
See you next year.
Appreciate the team for allowing me to capture their event again this year. Much appreciated.
