I Wish You Love was the appropriate theme for Portland’s 5th Our Family Dinner held at Oba Restaurant. Although it was rainy and gloomy outside, the love expressed between family members made up for the dreary weather.
It was great to see new faces at this dinner along with new hosts. The previous hosts Keith and Garren passed the torch and Krystal, Bart, Luc, Karen, Ola and Alicia kept the tradition going without a hitch. We had 80 family members, some new, some familiar come together for fellowship, drinks and dinner. Everyone was greeted with a hug as they arrived at the restaurant to show this event is about love, building community and lasting friendships.
It’s traditional to recognize family members for their many accomplishments since the last dinner. At the time of purchasing your ticket, you have the opportunity to submit your accomplishment to be announced at the dinner. After the few announcements and accomplishments were made, Krystal opened up the floor for other family members to share their accomplishments. It truly turned into one big rally with applause after rowdy applause. Celebrating your birthday during Our Family Dinner is always a bonus as one of our newest family members found out. When Krystal announced it was her birthday, The sheer shock and surprise on her face was priceless. As the people of black twitter says “It’s lit!”. The energy was off the chain at Oba Restaurant.
This year is the first time I recorded video at the request of the new hosts. Check out the short video I put together.
Hopefully the video will encourage you to come to the next Our Family Dinner in August. Or find out when the next dinner will be hosted in your city. To find out more information visit Our Family Dinner’s website. You can follow them on Twitter, Instagram and like their page on Facebook.
